A pharmacist who stole around £3,000 from the till in the pharmacy where he worked has been warned by the General Pharmaceutical Council.

The regulator’s investigating committee heard Dustin Ki Lok Chu took the money while working as a superintendent pharmacist at a pharmacy in West Wickham.

The committee described his actions as “dishonest” and said “the methods he employed in his pre-meditated actions were designed to minimise the possibility of his conduct being discovered”.

“Mr Chu’s actions were an abuse of his position of trust and, clearly, improper,” the committee said, adding his conduct “risks undermining public confidence in the profession”.

It reminded Chu to adhere to two standards covering professional judgement and behaving in a professional manner.

“Any similar conduct will be likely to result in further regulatory intervention,” the committee said. “He must ensure there is no repetition of such conduct.”

His warning will be published on the register 12 months.
